Mogwai, at last notice, were on Matador Records. Until today. The news has come through that Mogwai have moved to Sub Pop Records in Seattle, a major coup for Sub Pop, who will be the label responsible for releasing the next Mogwai album in North America.

"We are happy and proud to announce that Sub Pop Records are releasing our next studio album in North America. The album is currently being mixed in Glasgow at Castle Of Doom studios by Paul Savage for an early 2011 release. Rock Action Records will be releasing the record in Europe with Hostess releasing in Japan, reads the announcement on Mogwai's web site.

Mogwai also just releases their Burning DVD on August 24th. It's available on CD and limited deluxe triple vinyl box set. The live recording and DVD will be released through Mogwai's own Rock Action label, and the album art was created by Aidan Moffat, formerly of Arab Strap.

The film originally debuted at the Copenhagen Documentary festival late last year, and shows Mogwai in stark black and white footage, playing the explosive style of performance that Mogwai is known for. The footage was taken from a residency at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg in April 2009. Check out a video from the movie with the song "I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead."
