Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth is working on a full-on solo album due for release later this year on Matador Records.
"I’m working on a solo record right now, a fully fleshed-out recording of a bunch of new material I’ve been working on for the last year or so. I’m gonna record that end of October into November and try to get it out at some point in the new year, through Matador. I’ve liked working with Matador quite a bit. I really liked working with the publicist, Nils [Bernstein]. I think Chris and Gerard have a really good sense of what they’re doing. And all the in-house people there are good people—very devotional," said Thurston in an interview with the Las Vegas Weekly in the run-up to the recent Matador at Twenty One event.
There's also the previously announced multimedia deal that came to light last week, in which Thurston is packaging up two seven-inch vinyl records in conjunction with a variety of visual items: photos, art and written items. It will be titled In Silver Rain with a Paper Key and comes with a hardcover monograph. It will include the new songs "You've Lost Your Lover," "Circulation" and "Blood." It's available for order now. |
