Cold War Kids have a new album on the way, with the title of Mine Is Yours. It will be released on January 25 via Downtown Records and Mercury. It was produced by Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Tom Waits, Kings of Leon) in both Los Angeles and Nashville.
The band said last year that they had over 40 songs completed, enough for three albums. Mine Is Yours will be the first offering of that material. Check out a stream of the song "Royal Blue" above. The band wrote a lot of the material while on tour, and evolved the songs by playing them at sound checks. Cold War Kids also released a four song EP earlier this year with Behave Yourself.
"I got home from tour and realized I was married. All my friends had either jumped in the deep end of a relationship or had drowned. When did things get so serious? We fought growing up but the wild nights and free-for-all caught up to us. Some people got out in time and others had permanent damage. For this record, I wrote about the joys and failures of commitment all around me," said frontman Nathan Willett.
In the meantime, they're touring around the U.S. for the rest of the year, where you'll be sure to hear material from Mine Is Yours.
