The SXSW 2011 Lineup has begun to be named, with SXSW organizers throwing the first names at the wall for us to see who'll converge on Austin, Texas next year. The initial names for the lineup include some people you know, as well as some that will start to become bigger as 2011 progresses.
A Place To Bury Strangers, Asobi Seksu, Ed Harcourt, El Guincho, Fujiya & Miyagi, John Vanderslice, MSTRKRFT, Starfucker, Toro y Moi, The War on Drugs and Wye Oak were some of the names that stood out at first.
The South by Southwest Music Festival 2011 show will take place in Austin, Texas on March 16-20. The entire SXSW experience will go from March 11th-20th, and includes SXSW Interactive and SXSW Film.
After crowdsourcing ideas from their audience, consulting with the board (the Advisory Board) and narrowing down the list, the 2011 SXSW music gathering has also named its initial lineup of panels and speakers. With titles like "Are Metalheads Smart Enough to Be Online?" and "Super Fans as a Marketing Force Amplifier," it sounds like a good start to SXSW. Check out the full lineup below.
Once the domain of up and coming bands, the South by Southwest Music Festival is becoming a place where semi-established bands also play to get exposure in a more crowded, more conservative music industry. And then of course, there will always be the bands we have never heard of, some of which will break out at SXSW in 2011.
