Boy, did we call this one wrong yesterday. Apple's big announcement? THE BEATLES. Did it change iTunes forever? Sure. In a big way? No. What a missed opportunity for the enhanced album format that iTunes rolled out earlier this year. The best we get is all 13 albums or a "box set." How about an iPad with the whole Beatles library?

"In 1964 the band that changed everything came to America. Now they're on iTunes," reads the announcement on the Apple web site.

Spacelab Reader's Poll: The Beatles on iTunes

We did get a (quick) video walk through of the career of The Beatles though (no charge for that) and a live Beatles show from 1964. I suppose it's easy to rip on Apple when everybody expects an iPhone-quality release on every announcement or conference, which just isn't possible every time.. Reality is really real, and the Beatles are really on iTunes. At least a new generation of kids can get a hold of the music from a digital angle ...

The Apple web site originally had a minimal message that read "Tomorrow is just another day. That you'll never forget. Check back here tomorrow for an exciting announcement from iTunes."
