The word has hit the street ... Wolf Parade has decided that it's time for the parade to be over, and the band is folding its operation for what's now being termed as an "indefinite hiatus." How's that for specificity? Wolf Parade's goin' bye bye and might not ever be back!
According to Consequence of Sound, Wolf Parade told the crowd at a Toronto gig on Saturday night that this was the end of the road, for as much as the band could tell right now.
"Singer/keyboardist Spencer Krug reportedly told the audience that “this is the last show we’ll play for a long time,” with singer/guitarist Dan Boeckner then noting, “this is the last song we’re ever gonna play.” While the news isn’t as bleak as Boeckner makes it sound, he did later confirm to the band’s unofficial fan site that Wolf Parade is indeed embarking on an 'indefinite hiatus.'"
As CoS is quick to point out, this does free the Wolf Parade peeps up to do more of the Sunset Rubdown, Frog Eyes, and Handsome Furs thing. And who knows ... maybe the next big Wolf Parade-like project will emerge! And there's always room for another Wolf Parade album in the future ...
