Trent Reznor will be doing more film score work in the near future ... He let it drop in a Times Talk interview with The New York Times that he and Atticus Ross will be creating the film score for the U.S. remake of the movie The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The film is due out out at the end of 2011 and features Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. The soundtrack for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will be string-heavy, as in orchestral strings and will be performance-based (which presumably means recorded live rather than separate multi tracks). Maybe this is a new permanent part of Trent Reznor's repertoire? Dark film scores?
In other Trent and Nine Inch Nails news, he also said in the interview that there is work being done on a Dolby 5.1 surround sound mix of The Fragile for a deluxe edition ... which should come out some day but has no plans for any release yet. There's a How To Destroy Angels release coming out this year, which is Trent's musical project with his wife Mariqueen Maandig. It should be a full length album and has a different tone to it than the How To Destroy Angels EP that was released last year.
