We already have clues on a few possible Lollapalooza artists because Greg Kot has let it drop that he thinks Best Coast, Girl Talk, Crystal Castles and Lykke Li are all among the lineup. Other artists that are popular Lollapalooza lineup rumors include Eminem, Muse and Foo Fighters as Lollapalooza 2011 headliners.
There's even a Lollapalooza lineup announcement party going on at the Debonair Social Club in Chicago. They've said that they'll reveal the Lollapalooza 2011 lineup at midnight on Monday the 25th, before anyone else.
Lollapalooza 2011 tickets are on sale. They usually go on sale in the form of early bird 3-Day Passes, then advance 3-Day passes, which are available until they run out, at which point regular 3-day passes go on sale. Here's the skinny on 2011 Lollapaooza tickets: they're split into three-day passes and VIP tickets. Three-day passes start at $215 and VIP passes go for $850, but you get "viewing platforms of the Main Stages with premium sightlines," beer and wine, catered food, air conditioning and mini-spa treatments, because everybody goes to Lollapalooza for the spa treatments.
The Lollapalooza 2011 dates run from Aug. 5-7 in Chicago, Illinois.
So here's the story for the 2011 Lollapalooza - one show, for three days, with lots of after-show events happening around the city. About 70 bands will perform on five stages. It will be the 20th anniversary, we're expecting big things.

Lollapalooza organizers (which, by most accounts, still include Perry Farrell) have given up on the notion of a traveling festival after 2004's meltdown, causing the cancellation of the tour. It seems that the cost of the festival in past years had grown so large, that there wasn't enough money left over after the bills were paid to satisfy Lollapalooza investors.
Then Lollapalooza moved to multi-day concert in Chicago's Grant Park, which is inside the downtown area of the city. Festival organizers promised the city skyline of the city as a backdrop for the show, so it's about as downtown as downtown can get. |
