Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will are creating the film score for the U.S. remake of the movie The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and now they're woking with Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs on a song for it ... they're covering Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."
The news was first broke by IndieWire's The Playlist blog and confirmed by Pitchfork. There's speculation that the trailer for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is running this weekend at the opening of the film The Hangover Part 2. Other theories say that a redband international trailer for the film is running in Europe right now, while a greenband trailer is due in the U.S. next week.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo opens December 21 and features Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. The soundtrack for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will be string-heavy, as in orchestral strings and will be performance-based (which presumably means recorded live rather than separate multi tracks). Maybe this is a new permanent part of Trent Reznor's repertoire? Dark film scores?
