The 2011 Lollapalooza schedule has been unveiled at the Lollapalooza web site, complete with a custom schedule app that lets you plan out a custom line up, then blast it out via Twitter or Facebook.

Lollapalooza 2011 tickets are on sale. Here's the skinny on what's left for 2011 Lollapaooza tickets: three-day passes and single day tickets. The single day tickets are $90, Three-day passes are $215 and regular VIP passes are sold out unless you buy the VIP Travel Package.

The Lollapalooza 2011 lineup includes Eminem, Muse, Coldplay and Foo Fighters as Lollapalooza 2011 headliners. Other interesting names include Best Coast, Black Lips, Cults, Daedelus, Death From Above 1979, Deadmau5, Explosions in the Sky and Phantogram. Check out a complete lineup.

The Lollapalooza 2011 dates run from Aug. 5-7 in Chicago, Illinois.

So here's the story for the 2011 Lollapalooza - one show, for three days, with lots of after-show events happening around the city. About 70 bands will perform on five stages. It will be the 20th anniversary, we're expecting big things.

Check out the Spacelab Festival Guide for more information on Lollapalooza. Check out the Lollapalooza 2011 Video Channel for videos from past performances, as well as videos from this year's event as it happens.

Lollapalooza organizers (which, by most accounts, still include Perry Farrell) have given up on the notion of a traveling festival after 2004's meltdown, causing the cancellation of the tour. It seems that the cost of the festival in past years had grown so large, that there wasn't enough money left over after the bills were paid to satisfy Lollapalooza investors.

Then Lollapalooza moved to multi-day concert in Chicago's Grant Park, which is inside the downtown area of the city. Festival organizers promised the city skyline of the city as a backdrop for the show, so it's about as downtown as downtown can get.
