Battles have announced a new single for ‘My Machines,’ with Gary Numan, due out on Aug. 15/16. The "My Machines" single is part of their new album Gloss Drop, which was released earlier this year. It will be available on silver 12” vinyl and download and will feature an unreleased song titled "A.M. Gestalt," as well as the instrumental version of "My Machines." "Working with Battles was an easy choice for me. They have a unique approach to making music and a clear idea of what they want. They are inventive, adventurous, unpredictable and I'm proud to be involved," said Gary Numan in a staid response to working with the band.
Battles released the album Gloss Drop on June 6/7 via Warp Records with appearances from none other than Gary Numan, Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead), Yamantaka Eye (Boredoms) and Matias Aguayo.
It's the first album without founding member Tyondai Braxton left the band, who left the band last Summer. As a result, the remaining three members decided to rework the songs from Gloss Drop as a three piece band and move forward. The result is a new phase of Battles, meaning a new sound built on top of the old one.
