Spiritualized have been forced to cancel two August shows due to Jason Pierce health issues. He's been receiving medical treatment and has been told by his medical advisors that he should cancel the Sicily and Standon Calling Festival shows.
"Everything possible has been done to try and play these shows but it recently became apparent that Jason would not be able to perform. Spiritualized apologise to everyone who is affected and hope they realise that cancellation was the only unavoidable option given the medical circumstances. This is not a long term issue and future dates and the album release will not be affected," reads the announcement.
Spiritualized are going through a new phase with a new album scheduled for release this Fall. Jason Pierce and co. have just worked out the details with the American indie label Fat Possum Records for a North American release, and Domino Records will handle the European contingent. The new Spiritualized album is the follow-up to 2008's Songs In A&E.
Spiritualized will play London's Royal Albert Hall on Oct. 11, tickets are on sale now. The show will supposedly cover the band's history (not every song, but from beginning to now), which should include plenty of material from the new album.
Spiritualized have announced a fresh set of 2011 tour dates for the U.K. And Ireland this Fall, in support of their highly anticipated new album. It will be the follow up to Songs In A & E, released in 2008.
