eMusic has formally rolled its eMusic Radio streaming music service with a little help from The Echo Nest and their music intelligence platform. It creates curated radio stations of things like emerging artists, local music scenes, and are curated by eMusic's editorial staff and music writers.
With eMusic Radio stations with titles that include "All Things Electronic," "The Indie Rock Deli: Eating the Beats Radio," "Gimme Indie Rock!" and "This is pop?: Post-Punk," there looks to be a lot of diversity. Echo Nest "makes recommendations for the program based on attributes - such as tempo, key and energy - selected by the curator," according to press release.
We first reported that something like eMusic Radio would launch as a streaming service back in January of 2010, after eMusic had worked out deals with the labels.
