Superchunk are smartly reissuing their debut Merge Records album Foolish this Fall, with a complete remastering alongside fat package extras like new album art (same as before but different) bonus material ... and liner notes! Liner notes!

“When the band recorded Foolish with Brian Paulson up in Minneapolis, they were actually more concerned with making a great record than savvy biz prognostication. And, indeed, Foolish stands as one of the band’s greatest accomplishments, a blast of songwriting growth (dare I say maturation?) that arrived without taking the band’s trademark energy and power as a casualty," writes Peter Margasak, who booked the first Superchunk show in Chicago.

Foolish shows indie props by having been recorded in Steve Albini's Chicago studio. The album release is due on Sept. 13 and is available for pre-order now on the Merge Records web site.
