Phantogram are set to release their new album Nightlife on Nov. 1 on Barsuk Records, and there's a new MP3 for the song “Don't Move.” Although most artists will say it's impossible to write songs on the road, Phantogram did just that while hitting clubs and music festivals this year, keepin' the vibe alive. It seems like the road might be the best place to write music, while you're in the thick of things and finding so many influences. You can tweak the music when you get off the road.

So if the Phantogram vibe is "street beat, psych pop" then they're doing that up in a fresh way here. They always mix the shoegaze aesthetic with a more uptempo / hip hop style that favors a little bit of sampling and keeps you moving. And guessing.

"It's just amazing how much our lives have changed in such a short period of time, and how all that change has made us able to focus in on what we want to be doing musically," says singer and keyboardist Sarah Barthel.
