Pink Mountaintops / Black Mountain man Stephen McBean is starting yet another new music project. This time leaning back to the dark side ... in fact it's called Grim Tower. He's roped in Imaad Wasif  (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) as well as Dan Allaire (Brian Jonestown Massacre) who handles the drums and Rob Barbato (Darker My Love)  on bass.

"The record's called Anarchic Breezes," McBean explains. "Hopefully that'll be out sometime in the new year," McBean told Exclaim.

There's no word yet on how it'll get released, either independently or through Black Mountain / Pink Mountaintops label Jagjaguwar. For now, Grim Tower "lives" on Facebook, which is kind of fitting for the dark side of the Facebook experience, if you think about it. Facebook's all seeing eye tracks you from ... a GRIM TOWER.

"Imaad and I sat in my backyard improvising with strangely detuned acoustic guitars for a few months then started sifting through the tapes and recording the stuff we considered the cream," McBean says. "Throbbing Gristle, Current 93 and Kenneth Anger were all an influence."

So it'll be happy music.
