Karen O stopped by WNYC last week to check in with John Schaefer on the show Soundcheck, and discussed her recent psycho opera Stop the Virgens, done with The Creators Project and their newly-formed The Studio. She talked about what went into Stop the Virgens and do a live performance of the song "Duet," as well as play recorded versions of some of the music from the show (see below). Go to 11:30 to hear the song "Duet"with Jason P. Grisell, otherwise the rest of this is a (worthy) interview. Also included here is a video from some of the pre-production of Stop the Vrgens showing the set up and design that went in to the show, with more commentary from Karen O and fellow Yeah Yeah Yeahs band member Nick Zinner, who was the musical director for the show.
"The psycho-opera, produced by The Studio, is an extremely multidisclipinary and chaotic visual treat as it combines theater with rock music, enhanced with video projections and technology," reads the announcement from The Creators Project.
