Spiritualized are going through a new phase with a new album scheduled for release in 2012. The new Spiritualized album is titled Sweet Heart Sweet Light, and was recorded in cities like Los Angeles, Reykjavik and Wales. Jason Pierce and co. have worked out the details with the American indie label Fat Possum Records for a North American release due in the Spring, and Domino Records will handle the European contingent. The new Spiritualized album is the follow-up to 2008's Songs In A&E.
"When you make a record, it has to be the single most important thing in your world. This time around, I wanted to do something that encompassed all I love in rock ‘n’ roll music. It’s got everything from Brötzmann and Berry right through to Dennis and Brian Wilson. I’m obsessed with music and the way you put it together and I don’t believe there are any rules,” said J. Spaceman.
It's been an up and down year for Jason Pierce, after Spiritualized were forced to cancel two August shows due to Jason Pierce health issues. He recieved medical treatment and has been told by his medical advisors that he need to cancel Spirtualized tour dates. He did go on to play at least some shows, with Spirtualized playing new songs in London in October.
