The Twilight Sad 2012 tour dates have just been announced, with shows happening in February and March ending the run with a chance to check out the band at the 2012 SXSW Music Conference. The Twilight Sad are set to release No One Will Ever Know on Feb. 7, via FatCat Records. It was produced by Andrew Weatherall, and includes influences like Cabaret Voltaire, Can, Liars, Magazine, Autechre, and Public Image Limited, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Nine Inch Nails and Factory Records’ Martin Hannett. The Twilight Sad is using analog vintage synthesizers on this release, giving it a darker and richer sound, and a keyboard/programming-driven method of making sounds.
“We wanted to be a lot more spontaneous, get outside our comfort zone - not to fall back into repeating what we've done previously. So we moved to London for a month to record at The Pool and got Andrew Weatherall involved to bounce ideas off and to generally reassure us of the direction we were already progressing in – toward a sparser sound, with a colder, slightly militant feel,” said guitarist Andy MacFarlane.
