Yet another fresh batch of Apple iPad 3 features: a new iPad 3 with HD and retina display, an iPad 4 with Final Cut Pro, specs include the A6 processor chip for faster iPad app and gaming capabilities, face recognition to go with Siri voice recognition, better iPad 3 battery life, also iTunes Match & iCloud. The iPad 3 release date is possible in early 2012, but is still in the rumor phase. The iPad 4 release date is believed to go down in the Fall. As if the iPad 3 rumors weren't already happening at an alarming pace, now there's fresh news of an iPad 4 happening. Digitimes said on Friday that there will be two iPad releases this year ... an iPad 3 release in the Spring that features HD capabilities with retina display, but also an iPad 4 in the Fall with a new bunch of iPad app capabilities.
"Apple will ship the so-called "iPad 3" with a full HD display in March and then "iPad 4" - named so by its component suppliers - with killer applications in October, according to industry sources in Taiwan," reads the report in DigiTimes. Hard to believe, sure, as why would Apple ever do an iPad 3 release and follow up with an iPad 4 release seven months later? Critics will point out that they never do more than one iPad release or iPhone release in a year, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. With Steve Jobs no longer running the company, new things can happen. But there's more to support the notion of a superfast iPad 3 release as an HD iPad and a fast iPad 4 that features improved app capabilities:
"Hidden deep inside the latest iOS 5.1 beta is updated processing-core management software that not only supports the dual-core processing enabled by the A5 iPhone and iPad chip, but also quad-core processing," reads the report from 9to5Mac. Huh? The speed increase that this would provide an iPad 3 would allow things like the rumored retina display for a sharper screen, as well as the HD iPad theory that's been floating around, that includes Final Cut Pro for iOS. Gaming capabilities shoot way up as well. This coud be the A6 processor we’ve been hearing about.
Latley, the iPad rumors have been flying at a pretty quick pace. A short recap:
MacRumors spoke of patent for facial recognition, a user "profile would be immediately accessed once the iPad recognizes a user's face." Other new iPad 3 features should include Siri, as well as iCloud and iTunes with iTunes in the cloud / iTunes Match for music, movies and TV shows. We can also expect iPad 3 features & specs to include an A6 processor.
The iPad 3 release date iwas believed to be January, centered sometime around iWorld on Jan 26. Apple would probably do a private show as has not participated in iWorld for two years, but in the post-Steve Jobs era of Apple things could change. Apple did a private show for the iPhone 5 / iPhone 4s release so it seems likely that the same would happen for an iPad 3 release. Still, the iPad 3 release date rumors keep flying, and their different every time, so that seems like a target that won’t be hit for a long time yet.
Before the holidaze, rumors of iPad 3 features including two sizes emerged before the holidays, with the theory that Apple would enter into the mid-size, mid-price game with an iPad to compete with the Amazon Kindle Fire that lit up the holidays. Dubbed the iPad Mini by many online pundits, sizes figure to be anywhere from 7.85 inches to 9.7 inches.
The new iPad battery life could be twice as long, says Digitimes, with capacity going from 14,000mAH compared to 6,500mAH. IPad battery life is crucial to a good user experience, with the media-heavy consumption that happens on an iPad. Check out more about steaming music sites in the Spacelab Streaming Music Guide.
