Beatportal recently reminded all of us about the Plastikman visuals that surrounded the Plastikman Arkives tour, with surreal imagery that's both organic and synthetic. And repetitious. And free-willed. The Plastikman tracks featured here are “Mind Encode,” “Lost,” and “Disconnect.”
The footage was a great backdrop to the Plastikman live show, and the video above takes the visuals created by video artist Ali Demirel for the Plastikman tour and eventually made it on the DVD titled The Optik, which went along with the Plastikman Arkives (1993-2010) box set. It's all of Richie Hawtin as Plastikman from 1993 - 2003 in one complete set. It's called Arkives, and it includes remasters of all six previously Plastikman albums plus rarities, previously unreleased stuff and a little new material. You've got the Reference version for the all-out Plastikman freaks, Analog for the vinyl heads, Digital for the Internet/iPod jet set that want a skinnyed-up version and Komplete for the all-out Plastikman freaks that also double as obsessive collectors. The Optik DVD includes Plastikman videos and previously unreleased footage of Plastikman at Glastonbury in 1995 and Mutek 2003.
