Aaron Freeman might be better known to you as Gene Ween, from the experimentalist band Ween. He's releasing a solo album titled Marvelous Clouds, an ode to poet and songwriter Rod McKuen who came out of the San Francisco Beat scene.
Freeman brought in Ben Vaughn, the producer of Ween‘s 12 Golden Country Greats album, and together they reworked 13 songs from Rod McKuen that make up Marvelous Clouds. Check out a 30 second sample of a song from the album above. It definitely has a San Francisco folk vibe to it ... the kind of song that "takes you back" to a time when music was more simply defined in direction and influences, as opposed to today's music, which usually has myriad influences. Marvelous Clouds will be released via Partisan Records on Apr. 10.
