Bloc Weekend had decided to change both its date and location for 2012, and they've finalized plans for Bloc 2012 - it will take place in London Pleasure Gardens, in the Royal Victoria Docks. "Overlooked by the monolithic post-industrial derelict buildings of Britain's former glory, licensed until 6AM, the Pleasure Gardens will provide Bloc with a home like no other." The Bloc Weekend dates are July 6 -7. Check out the Spacelab Festival Guide for more on the Bloc Weekend. Anybody going to Bloc Weekend should be super-psyched about this ... because Bloc organizers are working with none other than the same people who put on the Shangri-La area of the Glastonbury Festival, where they set up a concept or running theme for each year, last year was "pre-apocalyptic - the population of Shangri–La is [was] preparing to flee to before the end of the world in 2012. They’ve given up on trying to save the planet, and a virulent disease is spreading rapidly through the squalid slums. Instead they’ve colonised a new planet and the first transport there ships out on Monday. This is the last party before they go, a rave to end all raves…" So heady conceptual work is what they do well. This is where Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich spun an awesome set last year at a place known as the "after-hours pleasure city" of the Glastonbury Festival.
Check out the plans at London Pleasure Gardens for more site info ... this place will be incredible once the realize their vision.
