Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood is releasing a new album with Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki, and the title appears to be Krzysztof Penderecki / Jonny Greenwood. It features 15 tracks of music that's centered around four songs: “Popcorn Superhet Receiver” and “48 Responses to Polymorphia” by Jonny Greenwod and “Polymorphia” and “Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima” by Krzysztof Penderecki.
What's more, the two will perform the entire album in full at London's Barbican Hall on Mar. 20, with the AUKSO Chamber Orchestra led by Penderecki and Marek Moś. Krzysztof Penderecki / Jonny Greenwood will be released by Nonesuch Records, who tells us that when the two performed this material in front of an audience at the European Congress of Culture in Wrocław last year, it went over so well that “The composers went to Kraków’s Alvernia Studios immediately after the performances to oversee the recording of the same music, along with one other piece by Greenwood.” Not what you'd picture for a rock star all-nighter, right? Should be interesting.
