All hail the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of music! Now you can pay respects the ruling monarch of modern music, Frank Black (a.k.a. the Grand Duke) and his wife, Violet Clark (the Grand Duchess) with their new album Let the People Speak. The video above is for the song "Silver Boys," which is from the album, which arrives via Sonic Unyon on Apr. 10.
“Andy Warhol is my hero. I’m also fascinated with the dark aspects of nightlife and intoxicated social intercourse, so just thinking about him and his world brought some sexier energy into these songs,” said Violet Clark about the influences that went into the new Grand Duchy album.
“There's more energy left in the music if you're not picking it all apart with your brain, worrying about whether what you're doing is ‘cool’ or not. I have decided that ‘cool’ has no place in what we’re trying to do or achieve. What is ‘cool’ anyway?” That's so cool of you.
As for Mr. Black, a.k.a. Frank Black and Black Francis? “Whenever I wrote for this record,” he says, “I knew that Violet would take it wherever she wanted to. It was nice to just think about music and not worry about the end result.”
