Quirky, different, eclectic, hard to categorize...the music of Camper Van Beethoven had no boundaries ... who else at the time was releasing singles with titles like "Take the Skinheads Bowling?" From CVB emerged the band Cracker, who's cover of "Pictures of Matchstick Men" was a total Modern Rock & College Music staple. The violin on "Pictures of Matchstick Men" was played by long-time member Jonathan Segel.
Segel is going to be releasing a collection of his own work on March 6 titled All Attractions via Magnetic Recordings, and the the sound is really gratifying. Recorded in Sweden (hey, why not, right?) it has a varied feel as to be expected, but isn't afraid to rock. Word has it there's a pretty cool guest list of musicians and contributors, so stay tuned. Oh, and by the way...Jonathan Segel will be performing material from "All Attractions" as part of Camper Van Beethoven & Cracker's CAMP-IN Music Festival at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA on March 1-3 2012.
