Damon Albarn and Gorillaz will release a free MP3 single called "DoYaThing" later this month, a track that includes guest spots from Andre 3000 of Outkast and James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem. "DoYaThing" has a release date of Feb. 23, and will be released through the Converse web site (the safe version) plus a 12 minute explicit version of "DoYaThing" that will be released at a later time (reported by The Sun). Gorillaz animator Jamie Hewlett is also working on a video for the song as well as designing a pair of Converse shoes. The SoundCloud clip above features the Gorillaz character Murdoc announcing the whole collaboration.
"After nearly a year underground (or lurking in the dark corners of who-knows-where), the Gorillaz’s Murdoc Niccals has resurfaced and is again wreaking havoc — this time over the airwaves. It seems in fact that, following a dramatic exit from the Gorillaz’s Plastic Beach HQ, the miserable despot Murdoc Niccals has created yet another pirate radio station and is now sending transmissions from a brand new mystery location," reads the announcement at the Converse web site, where you can listen weekly segments from a the Gorillaz Pirate Radio Station.
