The band Black Marble releases their EP Weight Against the Door on 12" vinyl this week, and the two songs "On My Head" and "Pretender" show their dark and gritty take on synthwave, reminiscent of Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and even early industrial music. Happy dark Monday! The music's great though, download an MP3 of the song "Pretender" below.
MP3: Black Marble - "Pretender"
"Black Marble is one of the latest and greatest additions to the Brooklyn synthwave lexicon. Their stark, alienating textures cloister a vaguely hopeful intensity, like a lone and distant rhythm echoing from the hull of a lost deep sea vessel. Reminiscent of early DIY synth recordings, which pitted emotional undercurrents against wan dystopian landscapes, Black Marble’s sound struggles to squeeze blood from monolithic concrete." describes their label Hardly Art.
