This week in music news from Noisevox with with Rachel Gittler: The Whitney Houston funeral goes down in New Jersey; The Grammy Awards went on with host LL Cool J and a performance from Jennifer Hudson alongside 6 Grammy Awards for Adele, including "Album of the Year" for 21. Bon Iver won the "Best Alternative Album" and "Best New Arist" awards. Foo Fighters and Skrillex also won awards.
Damian Abraham of the band Fucked Up was the (Julie McCoy) cruise director for the Bruise Cruise Festival, which includes King Kahn and the Shrines, Fucked Up and The Soft Pack. Frankie Rose soon rolls out on tour in support of the album Interstellar; Jack White adds more tour dates in support of his album Blunderbuss), including stops at the Sasquatch Music Festival and Bonnaroo Festival; and Kraftwerk will play an eight show residency at MoMA.Bonnaroo Festival announced its 2012 lineup.
New releases for the upcoming week include Interstellar from Frankie Rose, Put Your Back Into It from Perfume Genius, Visions from Grimes, and Sleigh Bells with Reign of Terror. Check out the Sleigh Bells Reign of Terror SNL performance for the songs “Comeback Kid” and “End of the Line.”
