The words every Sigur Ros fan has been wanting to hear: a NEW SIGUR ROS album is on the way, with a release date of May 28th. There's already a Sigur Ros tour in the works with shows at the Osheaga Festival, Summer Sonic Festival, Rock En Seinne, Electric Picnic and Bestival, among others. There's a remote promise of more to be announced on their web site with the words "receive new tour updates via our mailing list," s owe can hope that a U.S. and North American tour will be announced eventually.
This will the follow up to the remarkable Sigur Ros INNI release, which was a concert film done by Sigur Ros and (La Blogotheque) director Vincent Morisset. Check out a ten minute INNI video here. But the day today belongs to Valtari, which sounds like it's going to be fantastic:
"I really can’t remember why we started this record, I no longer know what we were trying to do back then. I do know session after session went pear-shaped, we lost focus and almost gave up...did give up for a while. But then something happened and form started to emerge, and now i can honestly say that it’s the only Sigur Rós record I have listened to for pleasure in my own house after we’ve finished it." - Georg
