Silversun Pickups will release their third full-length album titled Neck of the Woods on May 8 via Dangerbird Records, and today we get our first taste of the new music with the song “Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings).” It was produced by Jacknife Lee (Weezer, R.E.M., U2) in hisTopanga Canyon studio in Southern California. The songs on Neck of the Woods sound like a horror movie, according to guitarist and vocalist Brian Aubert, who told SPIN "We can't take credit for any of it. It just accidentally happened."
He went on to say that the studio in Topanga Canyon where they recorded Neck of the Woods was close to where Aubert grew up, leading of course to the stroll down memory lane (and perhaps the album title?) He said "I hadn't been back in years. I thought it would be fun to walk down my old street. It was like playing with fire a little bit. So much came back that I had forgotten about and it was a really emotional experience. I just realized this place and the feelings I had are still ingrained in me."
