Lana Del Rey's new video for "Blue Jeans" isn't what one could describe as high art. This black and white L.A. poolside sensual swim with 'gators (and that tat man from the "Born to Die" clip) is as boring as the song. At first I was hoping for a Sunset Boulevard vibe, but what ended up playing was a bad perfume or jewelry commercial. At the end of the piece I expected to see a brand name.
The video's imagery: swimming with deadly reptiles while smoochin' a "rocker dude" doesn't really take the song to a new level or add to the Del Rey discussion. Is she just trying to find love in a pool of death? Probably...aren't we all?
