REVIEW: Canyons - “When I See You Again” Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) Remix

By: Jeff Daily
March 28, 2012

Australia's Canyons, Leo Thomson and Ryan Grieve, are musical explorers. The duo began as lone individuals lost in a landscape of sound before finding each other and founding Hole in the Sky, a label that allowed them to combine their talents. They even brought the world the debut EP by Tame Impala! Canyons strengths are remixes as they have been delivering well received tracks all over the world. Now, after recording their own debut full-length for the label Modular, its their turn to be the subject of a remix.

"When I See You Again" has been remixed by Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner. Zinner's take on the track is to expand on the sunny beach vibe of the original, adding reverb to the drums and makes an up tempo party piece even more of a dance jam. There is a vaseline on lens aura about this track. Its got a Talking Heads without NYC grit groove and I dig it.
