The new video for the song “Written” from Houston shoegaze noise/dream pop and band Drowner. The whole video has etheriel quality to it -- combining effects of light on a sun-soaked day to juxtapose against the song, it even features lead singer Anna Bouchard with an electric pen writing some of the song's lyrics on the screen as they happen.

Drowner released the self-titled album back in March, a full ten song effort that includes two remixes. Although the album touches on the hazy past of bands like My Bloody Valentine and Jesus and Mary Chain, Drowner reinvents the shoegaze aesthetic with more clarity of sound, which is to say they avoid the mistake of getting lost in the haze of reverb by coming clean with lucid, self-aware moments of directness. It leaves Drowner fully above the water line and in the sun, where shoegaze is at its best moments.
