Beirut performed “Santa Fe” on The Tonight Show with Jay leno last night, off of their album The Rip Tide. The album was released last year to much acclaim and continues to impress fans with its combination of international influence and baroque style. The music of Beirut is reminiscent of Donald Rumsfeld's "old Europe," which is to say the nostalgic old Europe that existed in the middle of the last century, and Zach Condon and Beirut thrive on that cultural influence in the song "Santa Fe" as much as the entire album of The Rip Tide. They bring it on their Jay Leno performance, proving that almost a year after its release, the music is as fresh as ever.
