REVIEW: Yuck - “Chew”

"Chew on the stained crust of sun dried flannel shreds." That's my first thought writer-man sentence based on 30 seconds of Yuck's latest 90s chunklet "Chew." Yuck is a youthful British band that sounds like all those 90s bands from MTV's bygone 120 Minutes. You might remember hearing the Smashing Pumpkins a time or two in your young life, well Yuck learned everything about guitars from that group...apparently. Oh, and Hum...that was a good band too.

Yuck's song, likely part of a project to be released by Fat Possum soon, is good in a revivalist sorta way. The fuzztone is warm and familiar. The vocals are distant and lazy so I appreciate the rather meaningless chorus phrase, " we chew it together." What is "it" you ask? Its like whatever, nevermind.
