Spiritualized performed “Hey Jane” on David Letterman last night, off of the album Sweet Heart, Sweet Light. “Hey Jane” was also released recently as a NSFW but very intersesting video.
Sweet Heart, Sweet Light was released on Fat Possum Records, and is the first Spiritualized album for the label. Jason Pierce moved around to global hotspots like Reykjavik, Los Angeles and Wales to record the album last year, and after a few rescheduled release dates, Sweet Heart, Sweet Light was released earlier this year. You can also check out "Hey Jane" as a stream here.
"When you make a record, it has to be the single most important thing in your world. This time around, I wanted to do something that encompassed all I love in rock ‘n’ roll music. It’s got everything from Brötzmann and Berry right through to Dennis and Brian Wilson. I’m obsessed with music and the way you put it together and I don’t believe there are any rules,” said J. Spaceman when speaking about the release.
Alternately, when speaking to SPIN he said "I had the rather foolish idea last November that I could deliver the record that's been sent out and keep working on the real version. People say that all the little mixing moves I'm doing now are just for myself, but to me they're no different than the mixing moves I did at the start of the process. Balancing things is what mixing is."
