|Dominick Fernow, a.k.a. that guy who does Prurient, Vatican Shadow, Cold Cave as well as the Hospital Productions label, is at it again. This time it's under his Vatican Shadow project ... and he's releasing a new EP under a new label imprint (under Boomkat). The new Vatican Shadow EP is titled September Cell is limited to a run of 700 copies, and the label is the comfortably titled Bed of Nails. So it's an easy-going affair, full of happy tunes, right? We all know better than that, it should be a dark and tortuous collection of songs.
"Bed of Nails will be a channel exclusively for this kind of material, beginning with September Cell, a foreboding techno EP with politically-charged track titles (like most of Vatican Shadow's work to date). September Cell will be available next month on vinyl only," said Resident Advisor in a recent news announcement. See? He's even making everyone go through the pain and suffering of specially ordering vinyl, then waiting for it to arrive before you even get to hear it. Lucky for us, there's a Vatican Shadow collection of songs on SoundCloud (in the player above) that are different from the album September Cell, but might give us a clue to the sound - and it's old school industrial combined with modern electronic sounds, with a little Prurient noise mixed in. Sounds like the new music should be a blast ... of exploding nails.
