Review: Jeff the Brotherhood - “Sixpack”

Sometimes the garage just needs to be filled with noise. Two brothers from Nasville, TN (Jake and Jamin Orrall) are Jeff the Brotherhood and I would love to claim they named their band after ME, but I can't and I won't. The duo jam the kind of perfectly fun garage-rock-psych-pop that makes the unwashed pimply teens sweat in basement clubs all over the country and, if the peach fuzz riffs on their latest single are any indication, their next record will be pretty damn good.

"Sixpack" is the title of said single and its a beer soaked anthem readymade for summertime pool parties. Musically its like a sloppier version of Wilco during Summerteeth with more unruly guitars. The tune is melodic and catchy and has a great keyboard line that is going to be tough to listen to ONLY once. "Sixpack" will be on Jeff the Brotherhood's next album Hypnotic Nights co-produced by the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach (due 7/17 via Infinity Cat).
