The Spotify / Android nexus just got better with the release of an updated Spotify app for Android phones and Android tablets. It's fully into Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) and is available for download right now at Google Play. You'll get a number of new features, including: a slide out navigation, more social features, "extreme" sound quality for 320kbps songs, it scrobbles to Last.FM and more. It even has a control from the home screen, so you won't have to dive all the way into the Spotify app to skip that song that you just don't want to hear right now.

"Great news! The amazing new Android app is here. It looks great, moves fast and is packed full of new features... The preview we released a few weeks back got rave reviews - and we’ve sneaked in even more new features since then. You’ll love it!" said Andres Sehr on the Spotify blog.

SlashGear is also weighing in with words of approval: "A totally redesigned user interface is the main feature, but there’s a whole host of functionality for you to drool over." This is one of the Android apps that you've been waiting for.
