Cat Power is returning after a six-year hiatus with new material -- the new album is called Sun on Sept 4 on Matador Records. There's a new *video* for the song "Ruin" and a MP3 of the song is available too.
 
Sleater-Kinney nation: The Corin Tucker Band is coming out with a new album called Kill My Blues September 18 on Kill Rock Stars. She said "“After the past two years playing together, traveling and making music, I think we’re more comfortable,” she says. “We collaborated on every song on this record and no one was shy about their ideas. I think you can hear that sense of joy and abandon in the songs.”
 
Dubspot is holding a live streaming event on their YouTube channel called Stylus Sessions, which they're calling "an open experimental lab for the new millennium turntablist." It happens on June 24 at 1:00 PM EST and includes DJ Excess (Rock Hard Bastards), DJ Precision (X-Ecutioners, 07 DMC US Champ), DJ Spictakular (The Allies) and DJ Shiftee (2x DMC World Champ). That's 10 AM on the west coast, 7 PM in Paris and 2 AM in Tokyo. Japan: throw an all night party and tune in.
 
Living in an Xbox Live world for your music? Tomorrow could be good for you ... Microsoft is rumored to be launching their own media-based tablet with Xbox Music, and "the tablet may be the first non-Xbox device to gain Xbox Live streaming capabilities." UPDATE: It's happening today at 3:30 PM PST.
 
Crystal Castles played another show over the weekend, this time at the Lovebox festival in London. They played the same new song (watch the video of the performance) they played at the previous weekend's Parklife festival, as well as favorites like 'Baptism', 'Crimewave' and 'Black Panther.'
