Squarepusher performing at the 2012 Sonar Festival in Barcelona, Spain.
He performed songs from his amazing new Ufabulum album, and the Sonar Festival show kicks off the Ufabulum tour which will play out periodically through November. “I’ve started thinking about pure electronic music again. Something very melodic, very aggressive” said Tom Jenkinson, a.k.a. Squarepusher about the album. The entire Squarepusher tour was ‘conceived, written, designed and played’ live by Tom.
Spacelab writer Jeff Daily reviewed the Squarepusher song “Drax 2,” saying “The schizo glitch completely NON human track is from his
forthcoming album. This piece will
melt yr mind's eye, like Philip K. Dick compressed into seven plus
minutes of constantly jamping slanging kreeeching anti-organic sounds,”
From the Sonar Festival web site: "Beloved by both the experimental electronica set and enthusiasts of avant-garde jazz, Squarepusher emerged in the mid-1990s with a style that combines frantic breakbeats with influences from techno, jungle, acid house and hip-hop, as well as musique concrète and of course, jazz."
