Copenhagen-based post-rock band Efterklang will release a new album with Piramida on Sept. 24/25. The band warmed up ideas for the album by visiting the cold, Russian/Arctic island of Spitsbergen, in which they "went on a nine-day audio expedition to an abandoned Russian settlement in Spitsbergen, an Arctic island located just shy of the North Pole. Spitsbergen is home to more polar bears than people and also to the ghost town of Piramida, which was abandoned overnight in the 90s, and today stands as  a slowly decaying ruin," according to the band's press release. Check out the video below, the band goes through some serious adventures.

Efterklang are doubling down on their recent Sydney Opera House show with a show at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York on Sept. 22 with the Wordless Music Orchestra, as well as a Fall tour. The Sydney Opera House show included guests like Budgie (Siouxsie and The Banshees), Missy Mazzoli (Kronos Quartet, Victoire),  Karsten Fundal (Under Byen, Oh Land) and Daniel Bjarnason (Sigur Rós, Múm). They're not the only ones to be doing shows with an orchestra, check out what Aphex Twin just announced.
