| The Flaming Lips' collaborative Record Store Day offering Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends, originally available exclusively on multi-colored vinyl, got a re-release this week on both CD and digital formats. And, just in case the original didn't offer quite enough heady-ness for your liking, this new version of the album has an an additional track called "Tasered and Maced" featuring electro-funk duo Ghostland Observatory's Aaron Beherens. The song is an amusing spoken word anecdote set to synth riffs and wobble loops of a drunken episode between Beherens and the police in which, what else, he gets tasered and maced. The song is an eccentric cup of tea, to be sure, and will replace "I Don't Want You To Die," a previous collaboration with Coldplay's Chris Martin.
Meanwhile, the band in the middle of trying to break the ridiculous world record for most shows in a day, they are touring Europe in July, and have recently confirmed to Spinner that they are preparing their ninth studio record which will be released this upcoming Fall. Check out Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends "Tasered and Maced" over at Soundcloud.
