Have an Android phone or tablet? Android is often called out as being a poor platform for music apps and playback, but that looks set to change with the release of Android 4.1 starting later this month. New changes make it ultra-fast, and get rid of the problems that exist between the variety of Android devices, unifying apps between all of them.

"On the surface, it looks like Android just caught up with — and possibly even leapfrogged — Apple’s iOS as the best mobile operating system in the world. It’s already the most popular one in the states," writes Eliot Van Buskirk at Evolver.fm

 
 
Minneapolis band Night Moves has signed on with Domino Records for the release of a new album called Colored Emotions, due out on Oct. 9, check out their song "Headlights." They're a “slow-grooving, neo-twangy, cosmically-baked band” according to the Minneapolis newspaper Star Tribune.
 
The new Divine Fits album "Would That not Be Nice" has the new title track out the album arrives on Aug 28. Also check out the song "My Love Is Real."
 
MOG Music is indeed going to be sold to Beats ... "Beats, the maker of the high-end headphones that have become a status symbol, is finally ready to disclose that it is acquiring digital music service MOG, according to sources familiar with the deal" writes Greg Sandoval at CNET. The sale is not expected to change the MOG listening experience in any way, but we won't know until it plays out. UPDATE: Now it's official.
 
Blur are unveiling two new songs tonight ... Under the Westway" and "The Puritan." These will be available through the Blur Twitter as they will supposedly stream the performance, which is due at 6:15 PM London time. Anyone seen a live stream ON Twitter before? Is this a new thing?
