|Rdio continues its global expansion with a new move into Sweden and Finland, and might even unfold into Asia. The move into Sweden is right into the home territory of Spotify, so the Rdio VS Spotify battle should be a good one. Rdio was of course launched by the people who brought us Skype and the p2p downloading site KaZaA, Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis. It was announced by Rdio designer intern Chris Masterson via Twitter by saying “Say hello to Rdio Sweden and Finland.”
"Speaking in March, Rdio's partnerships and internationalization VP Scott Bagby admitted that "we are a couple of years behind others in terms of expansion," with the company facing significant competition from more established competitors such as Spotify. But he also revealed that Rdio already has "a guy on the ground in Asia," suggesting a route for further expansion beyond Europe," writes The Verge.
Rdio is both a streaming radio service as well as an a la carte streaming music service, meaning you can also pick and choose songs and albums to listen to, as well as create playlists. Rdio runs at a cost of $9.99 for mobile and Web access, while Web access only will cost $4.99 per month, and it features both streaming and offline listening. The Unlimited Family package is $17.99 a month.
