In a band? This why you're not getting paid by Spotify: "The average payout for an indie label is about $0.005 per stream (half a penny). But for artists signed to labels, the situation is even more frustrating; they must wait until the label receives its money from Spotify first, because almost every record contract states that the label receives ALL the income generated from the commercial exploitation of their recordings. Of course, the label is supposed to turn around and pay the artist their contractually defined royalty. " From Digital Music News
Foxygen just rolled a bunch of tour dates that start later this month and include dates with Jagjaguwar labelmates Moonface as well as La Sera and Dylan Shearer. They've also made a tour promo video, which they're calling the VHS version. Their album Take The Kids Off Broadway will be released July 24.

Beth Orton has a new album coming out on Oct. 2 called "Sugaring Season," her debut album on Anti-Records who says that it "bears the fruits of a period of introspection & renewal: deeply lyrical songwriting, a newfound expressivity of voice, and, more than ever before, a daring synthesis of her broad musical influences into a powerfully individual artistic vision." So we're expecting big things. She's going on tour also.

Canadian indie pop band Stars just laid out a North American tour for the new album The North, which has a release date of Sept. 4 on ATO Records. Tickets go on sale on the ominous day of Friday, July 13th. The tour runs from mid-September through the end of November, and most November shows are with Metric.
