Dan Snaith of Caribou will release another album from his Daphni project with a new album called JIAOLONG this fall via Merge Records. The release date is October 8/9, and it builds on the theme of where the Daphni project started: reworking Cortney Tidwell’s “Watusii” a few years ago. The music gets creative by trying to bring a sense of the unpredictable to what can sometimes be an overlooped and stale and restricting genre: electronic music.

“Electronic instruments are notoriously uncontrollable, unpredictable, and recalcitrant! I’ve been building a modular synthesizer, which plays a prominent role on this album. It growls or screams when I don’t expect it to. Nudging one dial changes the sound so drastically that I’ll never get the original sound back. It’s like improvising with another musician, and its voice is all over this music,” said Dan Snaith about his approach on JIAOLONG. Check out the song "Ye Ye" above.
