The Rdio Android app has received an upgrade tweak that promises better extended search results and Rdio playlist improvements, which includes a better ability to makes changes while also diving directly over to the album view from your playlist. New music freaks will dig the fact that new releases are now shown in a streamlined grid view for better browsing. Overall, the new Rdio app seems like more of a user experience upgrade than anything else, but UX is that all important special sauce that separates the men from the boys in the streaming music services game ... either the experience is good or users stampede to one of the many other music services out there.
In the Rdio vs Spotify game, this probably won't impact the Rdio app that much. Spotify seems destined to live larger on the top of the field, but Rdio does provide a good set of features that compete well with MOG and Rhapsody. They have a music library in the tens of millions, offline playback, social sharing etc. Rdio free lets you try before you buy, otherwise jump on Rdio unlimited for 10 bucks a month and skip the ads.
