The latest installment in the Sigur Ros “Valtari Mystery Film Experiment” is the video for “Varúð.” This is part of a group of music videos for the latest Sigur Ros album Valtari, which so far includes “Ég anda 1,” “Ég anda 2,” “Fjögur píanó,” and “Rembihnútur.” The “Varúð” video was created by Ryan McGinley.

Valtari seems more electronic than previous Sigur Ros albums, as all the songs are washed over with droning synths and buzzes. This effect leaves vacancy and emptiness for the songs. In this case it works for Sigur Ros, as their songs constantly evoke a myriad of emotions and this effect only makes Valtari more personal for the audience as well as the band. The ambient vacancy allows the audience to feel anything, and perhaps that's what Sigur Ros wanted all along.
